How long have you been in the field?

How long have you been at McTech?

25 years.

What have you learned while working at McTech?

I’ve learned how good work from a good lab helps people have beautiful smiles and feel so much better about themselves. We have seen many patients whose lives changed with what we and their doctors have done.

What about family and hobbies?

Mark and I have been married 37 years. When Mark first came to me about branching out on his own. I was there to support that dream and I think he has done wonderfully.

We have 5 children & 10 grandkids. We love spending as much time with them as we can. We enjoy traveling, especially when it’s seeing our grandkids. We love mother nature and all her beauty. I also enjoy reading, sewing, and crafting.

How have you learned to blend artistry with technology?

I love technology. I am always excited by new rollouts of hardware, devices, and software. One of my roles at McTech has been to help introduce these new advances to the business. Such as providing Mark and each of our other technicians their own iPad to look up cases on Labstar and view pictures in the Adobe Lightroom app. I have learned that each new piece of technology represents a potential new art tool.

From an artistic view, I turn to technology for inspiration. Technology allows artists from around the globe to connect and inspire one another.

John Ingram

John Ingram - Dental Lab CAD/CAM Tech

Position:

CAD/CAM Technician

How did you get into this field?

I went for a hand/eye coordination exam at a different lab and then began as a metal finisher. I then cross-trained into multiple positions before finally being brought on at McTech specifically for CAD/CAM.

How long have you been in the field?

8.5 years

How long have you been at McTech?

2.5 years.

What have you learned while working at McTech?

I’ve learned – from Mark particularly – a lot about the specifics of anatomy as well as occlusion. Also, being closer to the final product and being able to interact with our doctors has brought me a better understanding of the restorations we create for patients.

What about family and hobbies?

I have a wife and three kiddos, whom I love to spend time with. As a family, we love to watch movies together, play board games, and attend church on the Lord’s Day. We homeschool our oldest two so we spend a good amount of our time on education.

How have you learned to blend artistry with technology?

Working specifically with CAD/CAM software, I’ve learned not to be content with only what the software proposes. We are dedicated to creating restorations that not only meet the basic functions that the patient needs, but also fit seamlessly with the their existing dentition and aesthetics.

Ryan McKee

Ryan McKee - Dental Lab Manager

Position:

Lab Manager and Marketer

How did you get into this field?

Before business school, I served 5 years as a paratrooper in the 82nd Airborne Infantry Division, where I was deployed twice to Afghanistan and achieved the rank of sergeant. Because of my experiences there and how I grew up, the word prosthetics has come to mean something special to me.

How long have you been at McTech?

I came into McTech officially in the beginning of 2017 after earning my Bachelor’s in management and marketing – achieving Magna Cum Lauda and gaining the College of Business Outstanding Graduate of 2017 award.

What have you learned while working at McTech?

I love what I am a part of doing – restoring teeth, yes, but also restoring people’s standard of living and their dignity. Since working here, I have learned a ton from our doctors about dentistry, and even more from my father (Mark McKee) about the impact our field has on people’s lives.Though I’m not a technician, I love learning about new materials and technology in dental restorations.

What about family and hobbies?

I’m Mark’s son, so I still remember the family talk when I was 7 about how dad was going to be his own boss. I myself am the father of a bouncing baby boy and fiancé of his amazing mother. I’m a musician (guitarist and learning cello), a hunter, and a lover of both art and science. I also love anything to do with mountains.

How have you learned to blend artistry with technology?

My latest passion, photography, is a perfect analogy for how we bridge artistry with technology at McTech. Though digital photography has made taking pictures far easier, there is no replacing artistic composition.

Kendra Sivak

Kendra Sivak - Dental Lab Waxer

Position:

Waxer & Ceramist

How did you get into this field?

I became a mother and was determined to have a career and not just another “job”. I was a chairside dental assistant for RiverStone Health until Mark found me.

How long have you been in the field?

4 years.

How long have you been at McTech?

3 years.

What have you learned while working at McTech?

I have learned how to pour, model, wax, contour and color crowns. I have learned how important it is to work as part of a team. I have also learned that once a person loves their job and work environment, the more you want to be part of an amazing team.

What about family and hobbies?

I am a mother of one. We love camping, fishing and being at the river.

How have you learned to blend artistry with technology?

I have learned that technology has had a huge impact on the bulk of our starting product. With CAD/CAM, John (Ingram) has captured the science of this. The artistry is flowing wax, refining minor imperfections, and contouring before our shading process. Mark and Rob have helped train my eyes to make masterpieces with shading and contouring.
